Merseyside Police has recovered another suspected stolen scrambler bike in Knotty Ash as part of Operation Brookdale, the force's summer crackdown on illegal and nuisance use of off-road bikes. At around 3.15pm on Sunday 3 July, they recieved reports that a group of youths were riding on scrambler bikes in the area of Finch Lane. One of the bikes clipped the wing mirror of a police vehicle as he abandoned the bike, before he ran off. A Honda off-road scrambler bike was seized by police on Ackers Hall Avenue. One of the group then returned to throw bricks at the police vehicle, causing damage but no injuries. The suspect is described as a white, slim male, 5ft 10in tall, with dark messy hair and wearing a red hooded top, dark bottoms and had his face partially covered by a scarf. Neighbourhood Inspector Bobby Woodhall said: “This incident has resulted in removing another scrambler bike off our streets, but we are determined to find who was responsible for the act of violence towards officers, which could have so easily caused injury to officers or members of the public. "He believed in using violence to aid his escape from police, and in doing so showed complete disregard for the safety of police and towards other road users. "We are committed to removing this blight on our communities, and continue welcome any information as to where these bikes are being stored and by whom, so we can keep taking them off the streets." Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
