Rifles found in Speke raids
A man's been arrested after weapons were found during a police raid in Speke.
A police operation targeting serious and organised crime in the Speke area of Liverpool has resulted in an arrest today. Officers executed warrants at five addresses in Speke and alongside the arrest, two long-barrelled weapons and a cannabis farm with around 40 plants were found, during searches in two of the properties. The arrested man, who is 25 and from Speke, has been taken to a police station on Merseyside where he will be questioned on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. These arrested form part of a wider investigation into criminality in this area and follows two shooting incidents earlier this month, on Goldfinch Farm Road and Addenbrooke Road, Speke. T/Chief Superintendent Mark Wiggins from Liverpool Command Team said: “Those involved in serious and organised crime inflict misery and damage within their community and think nothing of using violence and intimidation. Decent, law abiding people get caught up in this - even hearing about a firearms discharge where they live can be very upsetting for residents. That’s why it’s imperative that the community provides us with information, so we keep up with our disruption activity and stop this damage in this community. “We remain committed to relentlessly pursuing those involved in this type of criminality to keep the public safe and put these criminals behind bars. I would encourage people to keep passing us information because todays raids were only possible with the support of the community and this helps us to take a stand against those involved in serious and organised crime in South Liverpool and the rest of Merseyside.”
