Pensioner critical after city centre stabbing

A pensioner is in a critical condition after he was stabbed on Renshaw Street last night.

Merseyside Police have arrested a man following a stabbing in Liverpool City Centre last night.

At around 8.05pm, a report was received of a 70-year-old man having been stabbed outside the Blarney Stone pub on Renshaw Street. Police and ambulance attended and the man has been taken to hospital where his condition is currently described as critical. A 55-year-old man was arrested close to the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and has been taken into custody for questioning. CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing and a road closure is currently in place on Renshaw Street.
