Milner Says Flanagan Comeback Is Incredible
Liverpool Vice-Captain says defender who spent nearly two years out is an inspiration.
James Milner says Jon Flanagan's return to the Liverpool first team has been an inspiration to them all.
The defender made his first start in almost two years against Stoke on Tuesday night, after two serious knee operations.
He ended up playing the full 90 minutes and part of extra time.
Milner says it's been an incredible comeback....
"Incredible, I can't say enough good things about him, he's a quality player. He always makes the right decision. I don't think there's many players who have been out for two years, and go on to play for 100 minutes. The physios must have been tearing their hair out.
The desire, the hard work he puts in the gym till 5 or 6 every day. Long hours. Watching everyone out training or playing matches, when you're stuck in with the Physios.
It was an unbelievable performance from him. Obviously the fans always want to see a local boy do well. It's a great story, and hopefully it carries on."
