This multi-agency exercise is taking place at locations across the north west, including at Redbank Community Home in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, when a simulated terror attack will be carried out to test the emergency response to a major incident. Local residents to the Redbank site have been informed about this exercise, with activity taking place between Monday 10 May and Wednesday, 12 May in this area. St Helens Superintendent Jonathan Davies said: “As part of the North West Counter Terrorism Unit, we have been involved in the planning of this exercise for a number of months and I want to make it clear that this is not linked to any specific terror threat or attack. “We recognise there may be some traffic disruption and noise, which affects local residents but we hope they recognise that exercises such as this are vital and allow us an opportunity to ensure we’re in the best possible place and fully prepared should such an attack occur. “I’d also like to remind local residents who may have any issues or concerns to get in contact with your local neighbourhood officers via 101.”
