A man wanted for questioning over two murders in Liverpool may be in Australia.

Merseyside Police want to trace Kevin Parle, 35, in connection with the deaths of 22-year-old Lucy Hargreaves in 2005 and 16-year-old Liam Kelly in 2004.

Last August, detectives released age progression photographs of the suspected killer on the 10th anniversary of the murder of mother-of-three Ms Hargreaves at her home in Walton.

The focus of the hunt has moved to Western Australia after a man reportedly told authorities he thought he may have had a drink with Parle in Perth's waterfront area last year.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) have launched an appeal for information about the whereabouts of Parle, who was also suspected to have been hiding in Spain since he went on the run 11 years ago.

In a statement, the AFP said: The Australian Federal Police is seeking information on behalf of UK authorities into the whereabouts of an international fugitive from the UK who police believe may be in Australia, or has previously visited Perth in Western Australia.

Parle is Caucasian and distinctive in appearance at approximately 195cm-200cm (6ft 4in-6ft 6in) tall, with ginger or red hair and blue eyes. He also has a small scar on the left side of his head.

Parle often goes by the nickname 'Hemp' and at one time was suspected to be in Spain where he is currently listed as one of Spain's most wanted fugitives.''

Members of the public were warned not to approach Parle, who is considered dangerous.

Ms Hargreaves was asleep on her sofa on August 3 2005 when three men burst into her home in Lambourne Road and shot her while her partner and two-year-old daughter were upstairs. The raiders then set fire to the address.

Liam Kelly was murdered in the early hours of June 19 2004 in Grafton Street, Dingle.

He was approached by two armed men as he got out of a car and was shot as he attempted to run away.
