Man Shot In Bootle

Published 8th Sep 2015

A man has been shot in Bootle. About 9.30pm, officers were called to Shelley Street following reports that a man in his 20s had been shot.

The victim sustained serious wounds to his back, which are consistent with being shot, and was taken to hospital where his condition is described as serious. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Detectives are keen to speak to two males seen on a motorbike in the area close to the time of the shooting.

Shelley Street has been cordoned off up to its junction with Marsh Lane, and Marsh Lane is closed between Shelley Street and Southey Street to allow forensic examination to take place. They will remain closed throughout the night.

House-to-house enquiries are being carried out and high visibility patrols have been stepped up in the area to reassure the local community.

The investigation is in its early stages and at this stage the motive for the shooting is unknown, although it is believed that this is a targeted attack.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who may have information about the shooting to contact them.
