Police are appealing for witnesses following an abduction and assault in Toxteth last night, Thursday 22 July. At around 5.45pm, a report was received of a suspected abduction of a man in the Croxteth Road area. Three men with their faces covered are believed to have dragged a man out of a car and into a second car, which they drove off towards Sefton Park Road. This vehicle is currently outstanding. At 7.10pm, a man in his 20s, believed to be the driver of the first car, was found on Cedar Grove having suffered cuts to his arms and head and was taken to hospital. Detective Superintendent Richie Salter from Liverpool CID said: "This incident happened in broad daylight with pedestrians and drivers passing by, and would have been shocking to witness. I would urge anyone to come forward with information, whether directly to police or anonymously through Crimestoppers. "Although it is early in the investigation, we are treating this as a targeted attack and I would like to reassure the community that we will act on any information you provide to bring those responsible to justice. Any details you may hold in relation to descriptions, vehicles and the movements of the offenders may be vital to our investigation."
