Liverpool have revealed where around Anfield they plan to move the iconic Shankly Gates.

The gates are currently in storage while the construction of the new Main Stand is being completed.

Now a planning application has revealed where the club plan to move them after it's completion.

It says "The new location will provide an appropriate setting for the gates in design and visual amenity terms”.

If approved the gates will be re-located further down Anfield Road - on the corner of both the Anfield Road and Centenary Stands.

The Gates were opened in 1982, nearly a year after the legendary Reds manager passed away.

The planning application said: "The Shankly Gates are a long standing feature of the stadium and are of high importance to the Club and its fans"

"The Club are committed to retaining key artefacts in quality spaces around the stadium; the new location will provide an appropriate setting for the gates in design and visual amenity terms."

"On match days, the closure of Anfield Road to traffic will also allow space for fans to view the gates without implications from vehicle movements."
