Images have been released of two men police would like to speak to after a stabbing at a pub in Birkenhead.

The incident happened in the Waterloo public house on Grange Road East on Sunday the 1st May when a 24 year-old man was found in the toilets with what is believed to be a stab wound to the leg.

The man told officers that he believed the incident had happened while he had been standing close to the pub’s pool table between 10pm-10.30pm.

He was taken to the Royal Liverpool Hospital where he was treated for a small wound to the rear of his right upper leg and discharged.

CCTV and forensic opportunities are being explored and an investigation is ongoing.

Detective Constable Nick Moore said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish what has taken place.

"We have images of two men who were in the pub on the night of the incident who we would like to speak to and we would appeal to those men to come forward and speak to our officers."

"I would also ask anyone who was in the pub on the evening of Sunday 1st May who may have any information which could assist us to get in touch.”
