A date's been set for this year's Run for the 96 event in Stanley Park.

The 5k is taking place on Sunday the 22nd of May.

The fun run was set up in memory of the 96 Liverpool fans who lost their lives on the 15th April 1989.

Any funds raised will be going towards both official charities for Everton & Liverpool.

A group of 15 will be running 79 miles from Hillsborough in Sheffield to Stanley Park within the 24 hours leading up the 5K.

They will leave the Hillsborough memorial at Sheffield Wednesday on the morning of Saturday, 21st May and will run through the night. They will arrive at the Isla Gladstone in Stanley Park the following morning in time to take part in the 5K

Margaret Aspinall, Chairman of the Hillsborough Family Support Group said:

"Last year's Run for the 96 was a very special, memorable day."

"It was touching to see so many Reds & Blues stand side by side to remember the 96"

Dom Williams who set up the event said:

"I first had the idea four years ago. I wanted to create something positive in memory of the 96 and thought it would be a great way of engaging the wider community."

The entry fee will pay to stage and deliver the event
