Merseyside Police can confirm that emergency services were called to Noctorum, following a report that a child had been bitten by a dog. At around 2.30pm, a three-year-old boy was walking with his father along a footpath between Noctorum Avenue and the Woodchurch Estate, when he was bitten by a dog. The boy was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery and continues to be treated to injuries to his face. The dog was thought to be a stray, and is described only as a black Lurcher cross type dog.

Neighbourhood Inspector Georgie Minnery said: “As you can see from the pictures, this was a particularly nasty bite on a little boy who was just walking with his dad. Residents should be able to feel safe in the community and as such we treat all incidents of this nature very seriously.

“We are carrying out a number of enquiries in the area to try and trace this dog, and its owner (if it has one). If anyone from the local community has seen this dog, I’d urge you to get in contact.”

Officers are continuing the carry out extensive enquiries in the area in a bid to try and trace the dog and its owner (if it has one) and officers would urge anyone who has any information about this incident is asked to contact 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
