6 men have been arrested by police investigating the murder of 16 year old Lewis Dunne in Liverpool.

The teenager died after being found with gunshot wounds near the Leeds-Liverpool canal in Eldonian Village in November

He was found on a canal towpath by members of the public around 11.10pm on November 15th - he was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

A post-mortem confirmed he was killed after being hit by a single bullet from a shotgun.

Police say five of those arrested; a 21-year-old from Kirkdale; a 25-year-old from Birkenhead; a 20-year-old from Walton; a 32-year-old from Kirkdale and a 24-year-old from Kirkdale) were arrested on suspicion of murder. A sixth male, aged 23 years, from Kirkdale, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Six addresses are also being searched as part of the investigation.

All those arrested have been taken to police stations across Merseyside where they will be questioned.
