Sefton council have revealed ambitious £100 million pound plans to transform Bootle town centre.

The proposals include restaurants, canal side bars and even canoe facilities - plus 150,000 square feet of office space and a hotel.

Elsewhere in the development are proposals to improve the area around Bootle Town Hall, build 80 new homes and a multi-storey car park.

Speaking in a report to councillors, Sefton's head of regeneration and housing Phillip Cresswell said they want to present Bootle as a "desirable residential, education and business location."

The document will formally go before Sefton's Cabinet on Thursday for consideration.

Adam Mirley, director and head of Lambert Smith Hampton's North West planning and development consultancy said "There is a huge amount of potential in Bootle which isn't being fully realised.

"There is a need for an improved retail and leisure offer and and more modern commercial business space in the town.

"The framework will encourage private sector investment and provide a platform for growth and development, and take advantage of existing assets such as Hugh Baird College and The Strand".
