Actor, comedian and radio host extraordinaire Paddy McGuinness has landed a guest role on Coronation Street as a Bear Grylls-esque survival expert.

The 41-year-old Lancashire lad will play wilderness enthusiast Dougie Ryan who puts the Dobbs and Tinkers through their survival paces on a camping holiday.

After striking up a friendship with Craig Tinker, Dougie shows off his outdoor expertise to Kirk, Beth, Chesney, Sinead, Tyrone and Fiz before it ends in side-splittingly funny consequences.

Enthusing about his slot on the show, Paddy said: “Being asked to appear in Coronation Street was a very special moment for me.

“I remember Peter (Kay) telling me how much he enjoyed his guest spot on the show and I can't wait to get started.

“An iconic and much loved show not just in the UK but around the world. The character I'll be playing is very funny and I'm sure the corrie fans will love him.”

The Paddy’s Sunday Dinner host will start filming in May and the six episodes will air in August.

Coronation Street Producer Stuart Blackburn said: “It's an absolute delight to be working with Paddy who is a talented actor with a flair for comedy that will ensure he fits right in with the Corrie cast.”

Paddy is also touring the length and breadth of the country in late 2015/early 2016 with his sprawling stand-up tour – Daddy McGuinness.
