A member of staff was knocked to the floor during a robbery at a popular Liverpool restaurant

At approximately 11.30pm what is believed to be a group of around four males wearing dark clothing and with their faces covered forced entry into the rear of Marantos on Lark Lane in Aigburth.

Once inside the property they made a search of the premises before escaping with a quantity of cash.

A member of staff was knocked to the floor and suffered a minor facial injury during the incident.

A search was carried out in the local area and house-to-house enquiries, CCTV footage and forensic opportunities are being explored.

An investigation is currently underway.

Detective Inspector Phil Mahon said: “I would appeal to anyone who saw a group of males acting suspiciously around Lark Lane or nearby Ivanhoe Road to contact us.

“We believe four males entered the rear of the restaurant and left the same way with a quantity of cash. Luckily the member of staff was not badly hurt but was left shaken by their ordeal.

“Business robberies are not victimless crimes and we are committed to finding the people responsible and bringing them to justice.”
