Angela Eagle has become the highest profile MP to resign from Labour's shadow cabinet - with Luciana Berger and Maria Eagle also departing their roles.

Following the UK's vote to leave the EU, there have been a number of resignations.

Jeremy Corbyn sacked Hilary Benn as shadow foreign minister in the early hours of Sunday morning, which acted as a catalyst for the Labour exodus.

Angela Eagle, Shadow Business Secretary and First Secretary of State, was a prominent member of the Remain campaign and in her resignation letter said she was "devastated by the result".

She partly blamed Corbyn's leadership for the referendum result as she said "under your leadership the case to remain in the EU was made with half-hearted ambivalence rather than full-throated clarity."

She says he's failed in his efforts to communicate with voters, and with members of his own party.

Angela Eagle's sister Maria, MP for Garston, has also resigned her position as Shadow Culture Secretary - while Wavertree MP Luciana Berger has walked as Shadow Minister for Mental Health.
