Maghull Woman Pranked By Troll Pretending To Be Her Dead Daughter

Mother of car crash victim targeted on Facebook

A Merseyside mum says she's been left sickened after trolls sent her a message on Facebook - pretending to be her daughter, who died nearly seven years ago.

20 year old Dominique Williams from Maghull was killed in a car crash as she headed to Creamfields in August 2009. The vehicle she was travelling in flipped over and smashed into a lamppost as she travelled with friends to the music festival in Daresbury.

This week, her mum Lesley's received messages on Facebook, claiming to be from Dominique, saying "I really miss you" and "please don't chase me away".

She told Radio City she was stunned when she read them: "It was on Wednesday night and a message flashed on my Facebook private messenger saying it was from Dominique Williams. My immediate thought was shock, and you lose it for a second thinking Dom's messaging me, and obviously I opened it.

This person said 'I just needed to get in touch with you and I'm glad you found me', so I couldn't comprehend it really, I was a bit lost for a minute. Sometimes when you have a dream you can forget it's happened and I genuinely thought it was a message off Dom for a split second. Then I thought don't be silly who is this, they said 'don't be scared it's me I just need to speak to you'. So I said stop it now, who is it? 'It might sound crazy, but it's Dom'. I then just ignored it, but the messages kept coming saying 'I miss you, I'm proud of you and everything you do for me.' It just threw me.

They shouldn't be allowed to get away with it. Ok they aren't stealing money off you, and people might say it's just words. But it's the way it's down, and to imitate someone who has passed away and still means the world to her family is inconceivable."

Police have now launched an investigation into the messages.
