Tributes paid to a Cumbrian electrician who died after balcony fall in Ibiza

He's been named by friends on social media as 22-year-old John McKenna from Carlisle

Tributes are coming in for a Cumbrian man who reportedly died after falling from a hotel balcony in Ibiza.

Local media say police in San Antonia confirmed a 22 year old man fell from a third floor.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Though the Foreign Office haven't confirmed his identity, friends of John McKenna from Carlisle have been paying tribute to the electrician on social media.

Writing on Facebook, a close friend said he was left 'absolutely heartbroken'.

Scotby FC, a local football club, saying 'he was a brilliant player but an even better person'.

A Foreign Office spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British national who died in Ibiza and are in contact with the local authorities.”

Another friend, Olly Doyle, added: "A true gent and the most genuinely nice lad around.

"Never a smile off his face, one of the best. Rest easy big man."

Local police say “the incident is still being investigated.”
