The community in Distington are rallying together after a 14-year-old girl and her dad died in a house fire over the weekend.

Paul Scott (58) and his daughter Mia lost their lives in the blaze which happened at Toll Bar Houses in the early hours of Sunday morning (22nd May).

The incident is not being treated as suspicious. An investigation is ongoing on behalf of the coroner.

Their family have since paid tribute, as well as the Headteacher at Mia's school, Workington Academy, who says she was, "an amazing and loyal friend who will be sadly missed".

Now, a Go Fund Me page has been set up in the hopes of raising ÂŁ5,000 for those affected by the tragedy.

Not only did the fire kill two members of the community, but it also caused major damage to both the house where the fire originated and the neighbouring properties.

In the description of the fundraiser it says they want to show their support:

"We believe that if this fundraising makes even the tiniest bit of difference in the coming months then we MUST because we can.

"There is a lot of comfort to be gained from a community that can come together in these times of need and show that we truly care 💙❤️"
