A man has been jailed after raiding a Carlisle home, of a family with a new-born baby just days before Christmas.

John Lowe, 44, of John Street, Carlisle, targeted a host of houses in the same Parklands village area during the early hours of 20th December.

Carlisle Crown Court today heard that he trampled on baby grows after sneaking into one address occupied by a sleeping couple with a newborn child and a four-year-old son.

The 44 year old has been given four and a six months in jail.

He pleaded guilty to three burglaries and two attempted break-ins

The five offences of burglary relate to incidents in Carlisle in the early hours of 20th December 2021.

Police Constable Ashleigh Hunter said “Lowe targeted a number of properties in Carlisle on the 20th December with officers also finding more properties insecure whilst responding to initial reports.

“We will not tolerate any burglaries of any kind of properties.

“Those who engage in these crimes can expect to face a police investigation and prosecution.”
