Unstoppable flame-haired singer Ed Sheeran has overtaken Coldplay in the race for the best selling album of 2014!

Already the fastest selling album of the year having shifted 182,000 copies in its first week, ‘X’ has now leapfrogged Coldplay’s ‘Ghost Stories’ to become the top-selling album of the year so far.

As well as spawning the huge hit singles ‘Sing’ and ‘Don’t’, the record has now sold a mightily impressive 634,000 copies to date in the UK.

Fellow British solo star Sam Smith has also brushed Coldplay aside to claim the second spot with his phenomenal album ‘In The Lonely Hour’.
