Train services on the East Coast Main Line were brought to a standstill last night (Wednesday) after a person was hit by a train between Berwick and Dunbar.

Train operator LNER says all lines were closed while emergency services responded to the incident.

And services between Berwick and Edinburgh were subject to delays and cancellations.

A spokesperson said: "A person has been hit by a train between Berwick-Upon-Tweed and Dunbar. Whilst the emergency services deal with the incident, all lines are currently closed.

"Trains running between Berwick-Upon-Tweed and Edinburgh will be cancelled or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
