Canadian rocker Bryan Adams admits Floors Castle provided the perfect backdrop to his first ever gig in the Borders last night (Wednesday).

The Summer of '69 star joked next time he performs he plans to move the stage round to get a better view.

But the crowds that converged on Kelso seemed happy enough with what they saw.

Posting on social media, the event hosts said: "Bryan Adams you rocked!

"The man, the myth, the legend came right here to Floors Castle and absolutely gave us a show to remember.

"A huge thank you to him and his whole team; what a special night right here in the Scottish Borders."

Thousands of music fans travelled from both sides of the border to watch Bryan Adams belt out hit after hit, with local businesses - particulary local accommodation providers and taxi drivers - welcoming the boost in trade.

His set began with the third single from his So Happy It Hurts album, Kick Ass; and included favourites such as Heaven, (Everything I Do) I Do It For You, and Summer of '69; before finishing with an impromptu cover of Frankie Valli's I Love You Baby.

Addressing the crowd in the late sunshine, the 62-year-old - who spent Tuesday exploring the Castle - said: "What a beautiful setting.

"Next time we play here, I want to move the stage just a bit this way, just so we can get a kind of a view of the Castle up there. Do you know what I mean? You come all this way at least you want to look at it, right?"

Then, later, he added: "Is this really only the second show that's ever happened here? I think it's a beautiful place to do a show - amazing."
