After being attacked with stones and bricks - taxi drivers in Leeds are calling for action to get better protection.

Police have identified a number of hotspots in the city for incidents of children launching attacks - mainly in East Leeds.

A petition for police and council bosses to help bring it to an end has already received nearly 2 thousand signatures.

It’s been launched by Faraz Khan, on the petition site he says:

“Driving has been a nightmare for us drivers as the kids are throwing stones and eggs constantly without thinking of the consequences.

“They are not bothered as they or their parents are not paying for the damages of our cars and our time off work due to injuries we may receive due to this.

“This whole situation is going out of hand and causing us drivers severe stress. When it's after school time, we keep looking to see if there are kids on the road.”

West Yorkshire Police say it is unacceptable and that they're working to put long-term measures in place to tackle the issue.
