A campaign - set up by Batley and Spen MP Jo Cox before her death - has found more action MUST be taken to tackle loneliness.

It says nine million adults are often or always lonely - and that's as harmful as obesity or smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

Experts have described it as a 'social epidemic' - with NHS figures finding it can increase the risk of premature death by a third.

Jo's sister Kim Leadbeater has been speaking at the launch of The Jo Cox Loneliness Commission report this lunchtime in Batley

The Commission says a government-led approach is needed - and calls for a lead minister to be appointed to help drive action
