Former Leeds Rhino's Mitch Garbutt signs for Hull KR
It's on a 3 year deal.
Hull KR have signed two-time Grand Final winner Mitch Garbutt from Leeds on a three-year deal.
The 29-year-old former Brisbane and Melbourne prop was a member of the Rhinos' treble-winning team in his first season in Super League in 2015 and had another year left on his contract but made only nine appearances for them in 2018.
Hull KR coach Tim Sheens said:
"Mitch brings a wealth of experience to our team and joins what is now an impressive and experienced front row including Robbie Mulhern, Lee Jewitt, Mose Masoe and Nick Scruton.
"When a player of Mitch's ability becomes available it's important to move quickly to tie them down and we're delighted we've been able to secure his services until 2021.''
Garbutt is Rovers' fourth new signing for 2019 and their second from Leeds, following centre Jimmy Keinhorst to KCOM Craven Park.
"The opportunity came up to leave Leeds, I had a chat with a few people and then met with Tim and he was really good,'' Garbutt said.
"He was really straightforward with what he wanted and I think I'll fit in really well here.
"I would like to thank the Leeds Rhinos supporters who have always given me and my family great support during my time at the club.''
Meanwhile, Garbutt's former Leeds team-mate Danny McGuire has indicated the 2019 season will be his last as a player.
The former Great Britain and England stand-off, who scored 267 tries in 416 appearances for the Rhinos before joining Rovers 12 months ago, turns 36 in December and says he will hang up his boots at the end of next seaso
