Armed robbery at Holt Park Asda store

Two men in balaclavas armed with crowbars forced entry through a door while the shop was closed and confronted staff

Detectives are appealing for information after two men in balaclavas and armed with crowbars forced their way into the Asda store in Holt Park this morning.

At 6.14am today (18/9) police received a report of a robbery.

West Yorkshire Police say they made threats and stole a substantial amount of cash.

The men left the scene along with a third man who had been acting as a lookout.

They ran along a ginnel towards the High Farm public house and drove away in a white or light-coloured 4x4 vehicle.

'Terrifying experience'

Detective Inspector Susan MacLachlan, of Leeds District CID, said: “This was a terrifying experience for the store staff but thankfully no-one was physically injured.

“We are carrying out extensive enquiries to identify the suspects and would like to hear from anyone who saw them leaving the scene in this 4x4 vehicle.

“We would also like information about anyone seen acting suspiciously in the area in the lead up to the incident.”
