Two men in their 40s will appear at Leeds Magistrates later in connection with the shooting dead of Shuel Ali Hussain at Harehills last Monday.

They face charges of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice, with one also accused of two drugs offences. Four other men charged with conspiracy to murder will be up before Leeds Crown Court tomorrow. Despite the arrests and court appearances West Yorkshire Police say the investigation is still active.

Detective Superintendent Simon Atkinson, from the force Homicide and Major Enquiries Team said, "Whilst we have charged a number of people in connection with this incident, I am still appealing for witnesses to the murder of Shuel Ali Hussain.

"I am particularly interested in speaking to people in the Pasture Road, Airlie Avenue and Back Airlie Avenue area on Monday evening. I strongly believe that the answers I am looking for lay in the Harehills area of Leeds and I want this community to continue to support the police in our investigation.

"The Hussain family desperately want answers as to why their son was shot and I am determined to get these for them."

It's believed that Mr Hussain who was 33 was shot in his car and died after staggering to a supermarket for help on the evening of Monday the 9th of March in the Markham Avenue/Pasture Road area next to the Shah Jalal Mosque.
