Children as young as 10 are among hundreds of young people who've been arrested on suspicion of gun offences in the last three years.

More than 15-hundred were held by police between 2013 and January this year.

Figures from UK forces put together by the Press Association show arrests last year rose by a fifth.

But there was a slight drop here – West Yorkshire Police said there were 45 arrests for suspected firearms offences involving children in 2015, compared with 55 in 2014 and 38 in 2013.

There were also three arrests in January 2016.

Fifteen children were charged with firearms offences in 2015, compared with nine in 2014 and 10 in 2013.

A force spokesman said: "Unfortunately, West Yorkshire Police is unable to provide a full description of the offence as this has been held for the purpose of an investigation and disclosure of the full details could lead to the identification of individuals concerned."
