The daughter of missing 77-year-old George Bass from Harrogate has issued an emotional appeal urging her dad to get in touch.
George’s daughter, Sarah, said: "My dad has been missing for over a week now. We are desperately worried about him and just want to know he is safe.
"Dad, if you are reading or listening to this appeal, please let the police know that you are safe.
"Extended family, your old work colleagues, neighbours, anyone who knew you, are all contacting me to see how they can help in finding you. Everyone cares Dad, more than you may think or realise.
"Please put our minds at rest and let us know you are safe.
"If you prefer, you can contact the missing people charity who are helping us with our appeal. You can contact them in confidence and they will keep your whereabouts confidential if that’s what you prefer."
George was last seen wearing a grey waterproof jacket with a blue fleece underneath, brown trousers, a dark blue hat, dark blue gloves and black slip-on shoes.
He has a habit of clenching his hands when he walks. When he is not wearing gloves he has a habit of touching each finger in turn to his thumb, as if he’s counting.
Officers investigating George’s disappearance are also urging anyone who believes they have seen George, including hotel, guest house, and hostel workers in Leeds and York to contact them.
Anyone with information about George is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 and pass information to the Force Control Room, or you can contact the missing people charity on 116000.
