Officers from the Metropolitan Police have charged a man with murder following the fatal stabbing of another man in Waltham Forest.

The force was alerted to a property on South Birbeck Road in the south of the borough just after 11:50 p.m. on Thursday (April 18th).

When responders arrived at the property, they found a man suffering from serious stab wounds requiring emergency treatment.

The London Ambulance Service was called to the scene to deliver emergency first aid and medical treatment, but despite their best efforts, the man sadly died at the scene.

Following his death, the Met Police opened a murder investigation into the victim's death, as they tried to find who is responsible for his death.

Officers have now named the victim as Petro Bebko, who was 23, and lived in nearby Leytonstone. His family has been informed of his death.

A post-mortem was carried out on Friday (April 19th) following his death, and an examination revealed he had died as a result of a stab wound to the neck.

Police have now arrested and charged 34-year-old Mykola Yakymets at the same address, with the charges being given to him on Sunday (April 21st).

Thanks to their enquiries, it was found that both Bekbo and Yakymets had lived at the same address on South Birbeck Road when the incident took place.

Yakymets has now been remanded in police custody and will appear at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on Monday (April 22nd) in connection with Bekbo's murder.
