Met Office issue weather warning for thunderstorms across England
The weather warning will last throughout Sunday afternoon
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across much of northern England.
Heavy showers are set to hit the country on Sunday, as a slow-moving band of rain slowly makes it way across the nation.
Areas that are set to be hit by the storms include much of the Midlands, as well as parts of the North and East of England, with the warning stretching from Merseyside to Norfolk.
The weather warning will come into force from midday on Sunday (May 26th) and will last until 8pm in the evening.
Lightning strikes are expected during this time, with the potential for localised flooding that could impact homes and businesses.
People looking to travel due to the bank holiday are being urged to be cautious and to expect delays to services if using public transport.
Power lines are also expected to be hit by the thunderstorms with the Met Office saying that some homes and businesses may lose access to their power temporarily.
This is not the first set of thunderstorms to pass over the UK this month, as the country had been hit by a weather system earlier this month that caused flash flooding, affecting hundreds of homes.
