Murder investigation launched after woman dies in Liskeard

Devon and Cornwall Police believe the suspect knows the victim

Devon and Cornwall Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman was found dead in Liskeard.

Police first received reports of an incident by the ambulance service at around 8:40 a.m. on Saturday morning (June 15th).

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman who was deceased at an isolated property close to Merrymeet in the town.

During their initial investigations, a 75-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and was remanded in police custody, where he currently remains.

The deceased woman's family have been informed of her death, as an investigation into the woman's death was launched.

Officers have said that thanks to their initial enquiries, they believe that the suspect and the victim were known to each other.

The force currently remains at the scene as investigations are ongoing, with the force appealing to anyone who may have any information that could help to get in touch as soon as possible.
