Who were the first band that got you into music?

"My Dad brought me up on a lot of classic rock, bands like The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac were played pretty constantly in the Champion household. ‘Rumours’ remains one of my all time favourite albums."

What is your most memorable gig?

"I always say Pulp at Wembley Arena 1996, the height of brit pop, Jarvis Cocker on top form, an incredible showman (still is!) Me and my best mates were front row and the set list was phenomenal."

Who's the best guest you've had on the show and why?

"That’s a tough one! There’ve been a few favourites over the years. The ones that instantly spring to mind are Brandon Flowers, Liam Gallagher, KT Tunstall, Sheryl Crow and Sharleen Spitiri. All excellent value in their own ways. Sharleen Spitiri told me the FILTHIEST story I’ve ever heard (off microphone thankfully)."

Which song could be your exception to the No Repeat Guarantee?

"Fleetwood Mac’s ‘The Chain’ I’ll never tire of it."

Which Absolute decade is your go-to?

"I have to play the game on this one and say Absolute 80s given I’m there from 10am every week day! Absolute Radio 60s is also a favourite though, so a close second."

What’s been your biggest highlight from your time at Absolute Radio?

"I’ve LOVED hosting our outdoor coverage of events and festivals over the years, everything from London 2012 to The Isle Of Wight Festival. Nothing gets the adrenalin going like a power cut when you’re broadcasting from the middle of a field and nothing beats the buzz of an unplanned interview when the likes of Liam Gallagher turn up unannounced, you just have to go with the flow and I love it."

What is your favourite thing about presenting?

"Honestly, these days it’s the connection we have with our listeners. It became all the more apparent broadcasting in lock down a few years back. Having been at Absolute Radio for a long time I feel really honoured there are listeners who’ve been with us since the start. I had someone message me recently to say they remember listening to me on a Saturday afternoon taking their kid to soft play centres and that same kid has now started driving lessons! That puts it in perspective!"
