Villanelle, fronted by Liam Gallagher’s son Gene, have unleashed their debut single ‘Hinge’ ahead of a December 2025 UK tour.

The power trio consisting of Gene Gallagher (vocals/guitar), Ben Taylor (guitar) and Jack Schiavo (bass) ‘Weirdo’ are currently putting their finishing touches to their debut EP, which is preceded by the grungy ‘Hinge’.

Powered by a riff reminiscent of Rocket from the Crypt’s 1995 punk anthem ‘On a Rope’, ‘Hinge’ sees Gene embrace heavier sounds than his dad’s band Oasis.

Villanelle cite The Who, The Buzzcocks, Nirvana, Deftones, Smashing Pumpkins, Dinosaur Jr, Black Sabbath, and My Bloody Valentine as among their influences.

Watch Villanelle's 'Hinge' video:

Gene says: “That’s my favourite sort of music, so there’s some of that in everything I write. ‘Hinge’ is about paranoia derived from sleepless nights. I was probably hungover when I wrote it.”

Guitarist Ben adds: “‘Hinge’ is just simple and high energy. Anyone can play it, but no one can play it like us.”

Villanelle celebrate the release of ‘Hinge’ with a sold-out show at London Jaguar Shoes this Thursday (11th September) and they will embark on a nine-date UK tour in December.

Tickets go on sale from Absolute Radio Tickets at 9am on Wednesday 17th September.
