Tom Grennan announces virtual concert
It's taking place at O2 Academy Brixton
Bedford’s prodigal son Tom Grennan has announced a very special virtual concert taking place next month.
The one-off show takes place on Friday 2nd October 2020 at London’s world-famous O2 Academy Brixton and it will be streamed via the innovative MelodyVR app.
The show will feature tracks from Tom Grennan’s Top 5 debut album Lighting Matches, together with material from his upcoming second studio album including 'Oh Please'.
Tom Grennan, who sold out O2 Academy Brixton back in October 2018, says: “Nothing can replace the thrill of live music, especially in a venue as iconic as O2 Academy Brixton.
“I have loved playing there in the past and I can’t wait to get on the stage again with MelodyVR and bring you a taste of the new album. I am putting together something really special for everyone at home who I’ve missed so much.”
Tickets to the show go on sale from 10am on Wednesday 16th September. Head to Absolute Radio Tickets to buy yours.
Ticketholders will receive a redemption code and simple instructions on joining the stream via the MelodyVR app.
The show will be available to watch on smartphones and virtual reality headsets, and through MelodyVR’s groundbreaking live stream VR technology, the audience will be transported onto the state-of-the-art stage at the O2 Academy Brixton and experience the performance, choosing from multiple camera angles to make the show their own.
Back in June 2018, Tom Grennan exclusively covered Amy Winehouse’s ‘You Know I'm No Good’ backstage at Isle of Wight Festival for Absolute Radio. Watch the performance:
Tom Grennan is a big favourite on Absolute Radio 20s, and in May Ross Buchanan made Tom’s single ‘Oh Please’ his single of the week.
