The Simpsons release spoof Morrissey song 'Everyone Is Horrid Except Me (And Possibly You)'
They continue to poke fun at the former Smiths singer
Just a few weeks after Morrissey slammed The Simpsons for parodying him in a new episode, the show’s creators rubbed salt into his wounds by sharing a spoof song called ‘Everyone Is Horrid Except Me (And Possibly You).’
The episode called Panic on the Streets of Springfield aired in the US on 18th April and it saw Lisa Simpson unite with a new imaginary friend, a morose man called Quilloughby who sported a quiff and hailed from 1980s England.
When Lisa witnesses Quilloughby in concert with his band The Snuffs, she’s devastated to learn that he is in fact a dull meat-eating xenophobe.
Following the episode’s airing, The Simpsons’ creators have now uploaded a full song to YouTube dubbed ‘Everyone Is Horrid Except Me (And Possibly You).’
Co-written by Flight of the Conchords’ Bret McKenzie, the song is sung by Benedict Cumberbatch – who plays Quilloughby in the episode – and Lisa Simpson’s voice actor Yeardly Smith.
It’s one of three Bret McKenzie that featured in the episode alongside ‘Hamburger Homicide’ (a parody of ‘Meat Is Murder’) and ‘How Late Is Then?’, which nods to ‘How Soon Is Now?’

Taking to his website to lambast The Simpsons last month, Morrissey said as part of a lengthy post: "The hatred shown towards me from the creators of The Simpsons is obviously a taunting lawsuit, but one that requires more funding than I could possibly muster in order to make a challenge.”
Morrissey’s manager Pete Katsis also issued a statement denouncing The Simpsons for suggesting his client is overweight and racist in the episode.
Katsis accused The Simpsons of being ‘hypocritical’ and pointed towards actor Hank Azaria's recent apology for voicing Apu Nahasapeemapetilon in the show.
"Surprising what a “turn for the worst" the writing for The Simpson’s tv show has taken in recent years,” he said.
“Sadly, The Simpsons show started out creating great insight into the modern cultural experience, but has since degenerated to trying to capitalize on cheap controversy and expounding on vicious rumours.”
He added: “When a show stoops so low to use harshly hateful tactics like showing the Morrissey character with his belly hanging out of his shirt (when he has never looked like that at any point in his career) makes you wonder who the real hurtful, racist group is here.
“Even worse - calling the Morrissey character out for being a racist, without pointing out any specific instances, offers nothing. It only serves to insult the artist.
“They should take that mirror and hold it up to themselves.”
