Following on from the Absolute Radio playlisted anthem ‘Caution’ and the rousing ‘Fire in Bone’, The Killers have premiered another new track called ‘My Own Soul’s Warning’.

Written by Brandon Flowers, ‘My Own Soul’s Warning’ is the opening track on The Killers’ upcoming sixth studio album ‘Imploding the Mirage’, which tentatively lands later in 2020.

Co-produced by Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado and Shawn Everett, the track opens with ambient atmospherics and Brandon Flowers’ plaintively singing: “I’ve tried going against my own soul’s warning/But in the end something just didn’t feel right.”

‘My Own Soul’s Warning’ then explodes into life with trademark Killers euphoric synths and anthemic Bruce Springsteen-esque choruses.

The follow-up to 2017’s ‘Wonderful Wonderful’, ‘Imploding the Mirage’ was originally set for release on Friday 29th May, however it has been delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic. The exact new release date is yet to be revealed.

Last week, The Killers addressed the killing of George Floyd with a new version of their 2019 standalone single 'Land of the Free'.

“How many killings must one man watch in his home?” sings Brandon Flowers before the lyrics quote the exact time police officer Derek Chauvin kept his knee on George Floyd’s neck.

He sings: “Eight measured minutes and 46 seconds, another boy in the bag/Another stain on the flag.”
