Listen: Ozzy Osbourne premieres his Elton John collaboration 'Ordinary Man'
The title track of his new album
Ozzy Osbourne has premiered the title track of his twelfth studio album ‘Ordinary Man’ featuring Elton John.
The Prince of Darkness’ first album in a decade, 'Ordinary Man', is released on Friday 21st February 2020 and also boasts the singles ‘Under The Graveyard’ and ‘Straight To Hell’.
‘Ordinary Man’ was recorded in Los Angeles last summer while Ozzy was recuperating from a serious fall in his bedroom and a severe bout of pneumonia earlier in the year, and it features Ozzy on vocals alongside producer Andrew Watt on guitars, Duff McKagan (Guns N' Roses) on bass and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) on drums.
Slash lends his idiosyncratic guitar playing to ‘Straight To Hell’, and Elton John’s collaboration with Ozzy, that Sharon Osbourne revealed earlier this week, is the album title track ‘Ordinary Man’.
A close friend of the Osbourne family, Elton John tinkles the ivories and sings on the track. Fans who pre-order the album will receive ‘Ordinary Man’ as an instant grat free download. Listen to it here:
Speaking about Slash and Elton, Ozzy said: “Slash is a dear friend of mine, as is Elton. When I was writing ‘Ordinary Man,’ it reminded me of an old Elton song and I said to Sharon, ‘I wonder if he would sing on it?’ We asked and lo and behold, he agreed and sings and play piano on the song.”
Other guest performers are Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello and rapper Post Malone. It’s currently unclear whether the Post Malone track is their collaboration ‘Take What You Want’, which appeared on Malone’s 2019 album ‘Hollywood’s Bleeding’, or a new track.
Commenting on the recording process, Ozzy said: “It was a lot of fun to do though it’s a lot different from my other albums. We recorded it quickly, which I haven’t done since the first Black Sabbath album. This made it a different process, which I actually enjoyed.”
‘Ordinary Man’ will be available as a standard CD, deluxe CD, black vinyl, deluxe gatefold swirl colour vinyl, picture disc and digital album.
All physical copies of the album will include a unique code that will allow the purchaser to enter a sweepstake for a chance to win one of over 300 Ozzy prizes.
The prizes include an official Ozzy Osbourne laminate to get into any show on the 2020 “No More Tours 2,” meet and greets with Ozzy, a gift certificate to the Ozzy global store and much more.
Don’t forget, Ozzy's re-rescheduled No More Tour 2 trek with Judas Priest takes in the following dates this coming autumn. Tickets are on sale from Absolute Radio Tickets now.
