Oasis icon Bonehead gives fans an update as he starts cancer treatment
He has started his chemotherapy and radiotherapy
Legendary Oasis and Liam Gallagher guitarist Bonehead has given fans an update as he starts chemotherapy and radiotherapy for tonsil cancer.
56-year-old Bonehead, real name Paul Arthurs, revealed his tonsil cancer diagnosis in late April and said he was “gutted” to be taking out from touring with Liam Gallagher this summer.
In a statement issued to Twitter this week, Bonehead said he’s just had his first treatment sessions and he’s currently “feeling OK.”
“I had my first session of radiotherapy this morning and am now having a course of chemotherapy which will finish at 6am, so it’s an overnight stay at the Christie Hospital,” Bonehead wrote.
“Another session of radiotherapy in the morning, then home. Thirty sessions of radiotherapy and two sessions of chemo in total, so I’ve started and am crossing it off.
“I won’t bore you with a daily diary, no one wants that, but I’m feeling OK and I’ll probably tweet the usual nonsense as I go along.”
He added: "See you all soon. Sorry it won't be at Knebworth or any of the gigs over summer, but for those of you who are going, have a ball. Much love xxxx"
When The Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess sent his best wishes, Bonehead referenced the band’s upcoming special guest slot with Liam Gallagher at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium on Wednesday 1st June.
He wrote: "Thanks Tim, I’m gutted about ‘Sproston Green’ (The Charlatans’ 1990 song) at the Etihad, that would have been something else but we’ll do it when I’m through with this. Maybe somewhere hot and outdoors so get booking!!! See you soon xx”
Everyone at Absolute Radio wishes Bonehead a full and speedy recovery.
