Noel Gallagher has issued a short statement to Twitter rubbishing Liam’s claims that he turned down a whopping for an Oasis reunion.
On Monday night (3rd February), Liam Gallagher told his 3.2million Twitter followers that Noel snubbed a lucrative offer for an Oasis reunion and dubbed his older sibling a ‘greedy soul’.
He wrote in his inimitable style: “We’ve been offered 100 million pounds for a tour still not enough for the greedy soul oh well stay young LG.”
After Liam’s claims were covered extensively in the press, last night Noel shot down Liam’s tweet and said he hasn’t been offered any money to reform Oasis.
“To whoever might be arsed,” Noel wrote. “I am not aware of any offer from anybody for any amount of money to reform the legendary Mancunian Rock’n’Roll group Oasis.
“I am fully aware though that someone has a single to promote so that’s maybe where the confusion lies.”
Liam’s tweet on Monday seemed to directly contradict comments he made in early January that Noel has been “begging” him “to start Oasis again in 2022.”
Noel also refuted these claims, saying in a text to TalkSport: “RE: ‘The Reunion’, sadly I think the other fella must have been on the leftover Christmas Babycham. For the record, until anyone hears it from ME, it’s not happening.”
Last Friday, Liam Gallagher premiered his ‘Once’ video starring Manchester United footballing legend Eric Cantona as an eccentric and debauched king who traverses his palace in his boxer shorts and dressing gown.
Liam plays a subservient butler in the brilliant video who caters to Cantona’s every whim.
A day earlier on Thursday, Noel Gallagher debuted his gangster-themed ‘Blue Moon Rising’ video starring acclaimed actor Jack O'Connell.
Oasis officially split in August 2009 just days after they aborted their headline appearance at V Festival in Chelmsford.
Noel broke the news on the band’s official website, writing: “It is with some sadness and great relief...I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”
