Metallica announce first live concert of 2020
It takes place later this month
Metallica will play their first live concert of 2020 later this month as part of the all-new Encore Drive-In Nights series.
On Saturday (8th August), Metallica shared a video of themselves rehearsing to social media along with the caption ‘What the hell is going on at HQ?!’, strongly hinting at new action from the metal titans.
It’s now been confirmed that Metallica will play a full Encore Drive-In Nights concert at a top-secret California location, which will be screened at hundreds of drive-in and outdoor theatres across the United States and Canada on Saturday 29th August 2020.
Unfortunately, there is no news on whether the concert will be available watch in the UK.
Metallica’s first concert since the two S&M2 shows at The Chase Center in San Francisco in September 2019, the Encore Drive-In Nights gig will feature material from Metallica’s legendary 39-year career, and it will be edited and mixed by the band’s highly lauded production team.
The concert will also feature a special guest performance by Three Days Grace and tickets go on general sale this Friday. As an added sweetener, each ticket purchase will come with four digital downloads of Metallica’s ‘S&M2’ live album, which is released on Friday 28th August 2020 via Blackened Recordings.
Metallica have shared this video, presented by Lars Ulrich, to promote the concert:
Back in May, Metallica performed a stripped-back version of their ‘...And Justice for All’ classic ‘Blackened’ from their homes while in lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic.
In June, Metallica fans hailed ‘Master of Puppets’ as the greatest ‘Tallica song ever after four weeks of voting across the band’s social channels.
