Mark Hoppus shares statement revealing he's battling cancer
Mark posted a message on his social media accounts
Mark Hoppus has shared a message to his fans revealing that he is in the middle of a cancer battle. The blink-182 musician posted a statement on his Twitter and Instagram stories that detailed how he has been undergoing chemotherapy and he is 'scared' yet 'hopeful'.
The full message read, 'For the past three months I’ve been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. I have cancer. It sucks and I’m scared, and at the same time I’m blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get me through this.
'I still have months of treatment ahead of me but I’m trying to remain hopeful and positive. Can’t wait to be cancer free and see you all at a concert in the near future.. Love to you all.'
Following the statement, Mark also shared a photo of himself receiving treatment on his Instagram stories with the caption "Yes hello. One cancer treatment, please" overlaid.
blink-182 drummer, Travis Barker, spoke to E! News after Mark's post and said, "Mark is my brother and I love and support him. I will be with him every step of the way on stage and off and can't wait for us to play together again soon."
Since the post on Wednesday 23rd June, fans and fellow musicians have taken to social media to share their love, support and best wishes to Mark amidst his on-going cancer battle. blink-182 founder and former member, Tom DeLonge, was one of many posting on social media in support.
The Angels & Airwaves frontman wrote, 'I too, have been aware of @markhoppus’s cancer diagnosis for awhile now. And to add to his own words that he used today, I would also like to say that he is strong, and a super-human who is pushing through this difficult obstacle with a wide-open heart. Fisted hand#WeHaveHisBack.'
