Wales’ prodigal sons Manic Street Preachers have premiered the video for their brand-spanking new single ‘The Secret He Had Missed.’

The follow-up to the Absolute Radio playlisted anthem ‘Orwellian’, ‘The Secret He Had Missed’ sees James Dean Bradfield trade vocals with Julia Cumming from the New York band Sunflower Bean.

Billed as a cousin to the ‘Everything Must Go’ track ‘The Girl Who Wanted To Be God’, the pop-tastic ‘The Secret He Had Missed’ once again nods heavily towards ABBA.

Thematically, it delves into the lives of Augustus and Gwen John - Welsh sibling artists who were opposites united by blood yet driven apart by divergent lifestyles.

The video stars Newport born actress Aimee Ffion Edwards (Peaky Blinders/The Detectorists/Skins) and was directed by the band’s long-time visual collaborator Kieran Evans in Tenby and Newport’s Dolman Theatre.

Just like ‘Orwellian’, ‘The Secret He Had Missed’ is lifted from Manic Street Preachers’ eagerly awaited 14th studio album ‘The Ultra Vivid Lament’, which is released on Friday 3rd September 2021 on Columbia/Sony.

Supporting the album, Manic Street Preachers will embark on a headline UK tour throughout September and October, and on Friday 3rd December they’ll perform a huge headline show at London The SSE Arena, Wembley.

It’s now been confirmed that the set each night will feature songs from ‘The Ultra Vivid Lament’ together with the Manics’ greatest hits.

Tickets are on sale from Absolute Radio Tickets now.
