Oasis legend Liam Gallagher has the most miserable Instagram account of any musician in the UK, according to a new AI study.

Researchers at TonerGiant applied an AI (Artificial Intelligence) emotion recognition technology to more than 220,000 photos of faces from the UK’s 100 most followed musicians on Instagram.

Utilising a tool called Microsoft Azure that detects eight key emotions in facial expressions - neutral, anger, contempt, disgust, fear, happiness, sadness and surprise – each of the 220,000 facial photos studied were given a score out of 100% equating to the level of happiness displayed.

TonerGiant then compared the average level of happiness from each Instagram account to the average level of happiness for all photos analysed from all the musicians.

Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner

Unfortunately for Liam Gallagher, the study claims that his Instagram account is more miserable than any other musician or celebrity on the social media platform.

The happiness levels in pictures of Liam’s face scored 1% out of 100% on the happiness scale (100% is the happiest) — this was a whopping 98.9% lower than the average happiness of other UK celebrity Instagram accounts.

Former One Direction star Zayn Malik is in second spot with an 11% happiness score, while Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner is down in ninth place with a 23% happiness score.

Conversely, flame-haired acoustic pop troubadour Ed Sheeran was found to be the happiest musician with a score of 78%, and Liam’s older brother and former Oasis band mate Noel Gallagher was the tenth happiest with a score of 26%.
