Liam Gallagher to play one-off Blackburn gig next week
Charity show marks singer’s new Adidas collaboration
Last updated 20th Apr 2022
Liam Gallagher has announced an impromptu gig at the 1,800-capacity King George’s Hall in Blackburn, Lancashire next Wednesday, April 27th, with all proceeds going to a homeless charity.
The performance is to celebrate the former Oasis singer’s newly announced partnership with sport giants Adidas – the legendary frontman will collaborate with the brand on the new LG2SPZL trainers.
A release date for the shoes will be announced shortly. It isn’t the first time Gallagher has worked with Adidas. He marked the release of second solo album ‘Why Me? Why Not’ in August 2019 by linking up with the brand to launch its Adidas Spezial range. The design featured three white stripes on the side and Gallagher’s face on the tongue. Posting on Instagram, the star described the footwear in trademark Liam style: “Best f---king looking trainer on the f---king planet.”
Speaking in somewhat more restrained tones about the new trainers, Gallagher said: “I’m glad to announce my new collaboration with Adidas Spezial. It’s our take on the one and only Barrington Smash and it’s absolutely incredible. And if that’s not enough to blow your wig off, I’m going to be playing the King George’s Hall in Blackburn (on April 27th). All proceeds from the gig will be in aid of Nightsafe, a local homeless charity.”
Posting on Twitter, Nightsafe said "We keep pinching ourselves" about the proposed gig.
Tickets to the Blackburn show are only available via a raffle on the Adidas CONFIRMED app – sign-up is open now and closes at midnight on Friday (April 22nd). Raffle winners will be informed via a push notification on Saturday 23rd and must validate their ticket using the app by 8pm on Monday, April 25th. Each winner will receive a pair of tickets and will be asked to donate £20 to Nightsafe.
Liam Gallagher will release his third solo album ‘C’mon You Know’ on May 27th. It includes the Top 20 single ‘Everything’s Electric’, co-written by Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl who also played drums on the song.
