Leicester’s prodigal sons, Kasabian, are on course for their sixth consecutive UK Number 1 album with their latest record ‘The Alchemist’s Euphoria.’

Featuring the Absolute Radio playlisted bangers ‘Alygatyr’, ‘Scriptvre’ and ‘Chemicals’, ‘The Alchemist’s Euphoria’ is currently outselling the rest of the Top 5 it’s a dead cert for the top spot on Friday.

‘The Alchemist’s Euphoria’ is the first record to feature band leader Serge Pizzorno on vocals following Tom Meighan’s exit from the band in 2020. It’s also their first album to feature guitarist Tim Carter as a permanent member.

Kasabian have peaked at Number 1 with their past five studio albums – 2006’s ‘Empire’, 2009’s ‘West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum’, 2011’s ‘Velociraptor!’, 2014’s ‘48:13’ and 2017’s ‘For Crying Out Loud.’

The band’s self-titled debut, 2004’s ‘Kasabian’, reached Number 4 in the UK but it’s their best-selling album on these shores having shifted over 1 million units.

Elsewhere on this week’s Top 40, eighties synth-pop legends Erasure could secure their eleventh Top 10 record with ‘Day-Glo’, which is current at Number 6.

Coldplay also look set to re-enter the Top 40 with former chart-topper ‘Music Of The Spheres’ following their residency at London’s Wembley Stadium.
