Absolute Radio to host virtual Isle of Wight Festival featuring classic performances
Including, of course, David Bowie's last ever UK show
Last updated 9th Jun 2020
We’re extremely excited to confirm that Absolute Radio will be hosting a virtual Isle of Wight Festival featuring the greatest moments from the legendary event’s fabled history - including David Bowie’s last ever UK performance.
Unfortunately, the real festival isn’t happening this year, so here at Absolute Radio we’ll be celebrating Isle of Wight Festival on air with a Front Room Festival from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th June 2020.
The Friday will kick off in style with highlights from Paul McCartney’s career-spanning set at Seaclose Park in 2010, Fleetwood Mac’s glorious performance in 2015 plus further musical delights from R.E.M., Manic Street Preachers, Foo Fighters, Depeche Mode, Blondie, James and one of the acts who were due to headline this year; Snow Patrol.
Keeping up the ante, on Saturday 13th June we’ll be bringing you the late-great David Bowie’s final UK performance when he closed Isle of Wight Festival on the Sunday night in 2004.
Also on the phenomenal Saturday bill are Queen + Adam Lambert, Coldplay, Biffy Clyro, Texas, George Ezra, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Iggy Pop, The Police and Supergrass.
Absolute Radio’s virtual Isle of Wight Festival will come to an emphatic close on Sunday 14th June with The Rolling Stones from IOW 2007 and The Who’s feted performance at the third Isle of Wight Festival way back in 1970.
Also on the Sunday line-up are Kasabian, Kings of Leon, Liam Gallagher, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Sheryl Crow.
Sarah Champion, Ben Burrell, Danielle Perry, Ross Buchanan and Bush and Richie will be your hosts for the weekend and they will be in our virtual backstage tent with all of these incredible performances.
It all kicks off at 7pm on Friday 12th June! Get your wellies ready!
