Linkin Park challenging Sabrina Carpenter for UK Number 1 single

The new incarnation of Linkin Park is locked in a close chart battle with serial chart-conqueror Sabrina Carpenter for the UK Number 1 single this weekend.

The reunited band’s first music since the death of Chester Bennington in 2017, ‘The Emptiness Machine’, is currently at No.2 at the midweek stage behind Sabrina Carpenter's 'Taste', according to the Official Charts Company.

If ‘The Emptiness Machine’ holds strong in the upper echelons of the chart by Friday and secures a Top 5 finish it will be Linkin Park’s highest-charting single ever.

Linkin Park's previous UK chart peak was Number 6 with ‘What I’ve Done’ back in 2007. ‘In The End’ reached No.8 in 2001 while ‘Numb’ and ‘Crawling’ both dented the Top 20.

Linkin Park unveiled their new co-vocalist Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain, who replaces Rob Bourdon, to the world during a livestreamed concert in Los Angeles on Thursday night (5th September).

Linkin Park will unleash their first album in more than seven years, ‘From Zero’, on Friday 15th November 2024 and it’s preceded by ‘The Emptiness Machine.’

The sextet have also announced the first six dates of the From Zero World Tour, which visits Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul, and Bogota.

The London concert takes place at The O2 on Tuesday 24th September 2024, and tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday 13th September.

It’s since emerged that lead guitarist and founding member Brad Delson isn’t touring with Linkin Park. Alex Feder will tour in his place, but Delson remains an official member of the band.
